50 YEARS AT THE 2ND AVENUE DELI
Featuring the Klezmatics, Jonathan Ames, Art D'Lugoff, Fyvush Finkel, Judy Gold, Fred Hersch, Philip Levine, Chef Drew Nieporent, Frank Rich, Alex Witchel, John Zorn, and others
Once again rated as New York's top deli. . . widely hailed as 'the kosher deli of kosher delis.'
-Zagat New York Restaurant Survey, 2004
Abe Lebewohl opened the 2nd Avenue Deli in 1954. In the intervening years the Deli has become a living repository of Old World Jewish tastes and smells. At the Deli, old and new East Village meet, out-of-towners get a taste of New York, and everyone has the opportunity to experience bubbe's cooking. The Museum celebrates the Deli's 50th anniversary with a one-time-only event featuring a cavalcade of New York musicians, writers, and artists. The Klezmatics will serve as the house band for the evening's festivities.
A tasting featuring specialties provided by the 2nd Avenue Deli will follow the program.
Advanced Ticket Price: $20 adults, $18 seniors, $15 members/students
