Readings, Performances, and News: "The Literary Dick (As in Private Detective)" -- the detective bureau of this website (found in the Links section) has been mentioned in The New York Times (the October 3 Book Review): http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/03/books/review/03ORRL.html?pagewanted=4&oref=login. This is pretty remarkable. Also, Operation Ohio is covered in today's (Saturday, October 2nd) Times (I come in at the end of the piece, but I wasn't wearing a beret, I was wearing a cap backwards!): http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/02/arts/02camp.html. So suddenly a lot of press coverage in the Times. Scroll down for times and locations for various readings -- thank you!!
Readings, News, Performances, and a CORRECTION: My reading tomorrow (Sunday, October 3) is at 3pm not 6pm, 3PM....3PM.....I aplogize. All other times and locations below are correct. I was recently -- well, yesterday -- in Ohio, hoping and helping (a little) to register voters. To find out how you might be able to assist in swing states or even your own state, go to: http://drivingvotes.org/. And to read about Operation Ohio, the writer Stephen Elliott's wonderful endeavor in that state, which I joined up with, go to www.stephenelliott.com.
Readings, News, Performances: September 29th, I will be reading at Oberlin, probably at 7pm, with Dan Chaon, Julie Orringer, Vendela Vida, Ryan Harty, and Jim Shepard. September 30th, I will be at Cleveland State University (2:30pm) with Andrew Sean Greer, Julie Orringer, Ryan Harty, Dan Chaon, Vendela Vida, and Robert Olmstead. There is no reading at Case Western Reserve, which is something I had posted earlier. These Ohio readings are organized by Stephen Elliott and his Operation Ohio, whose purpose is to register college students to vote. October 2nd at 3pm, I will read from Wake Up, Sir! as part of the New York is Book Country festival; this will be at the Kaufman Center. Here are directions: by bus: take the B61 toward Red Hook from Atlantic Ave. & Court St. (or from the A train midtrain exit at Jay Street Borough Hall). Get off near the end of the line at Van Brunt & Beard streets., walk 1 block right and 1/2 block left. Or take the B77 bus down 9th Street from Park Slope (or from the Smith and 9th Street F train stop--exit at the rear of the train and come down the stairs to street level and the corner bus stop.) Take the bus in the direction of Van Brunt Street and Red Hook. October 7th (7pm), I will be at the Park Slope Barnes and Noble (somewhere on 7th Avenue), reading and appearing with the band One Ring Zero. Also, the great Robert Birnbaum conducted a very nice interview with me and this can be found at: www.identitytheory.com.
