Readings, News, and Performances

I will be teaching for one week at Reed College in Portland, OR from July 9th to July 15th. My class is part of the Tin House writers' workshop, and if you'd like to take my class, please go to: http://www.tinhouse.com/workshop/ for information. The whole week looks rather amazing, with lots of great writers attending, giving readings, teaching classes, giving lectures, and who knows what else.

Readings and other info:

Friday, May 20th -- I will be doing a Moth show in Connecticut. For details go to www.themoth.org

Monday, May 23rd -- I will be hosting a benefit for the Howl Festival. For info and to buy tickets go to: www.impactaddict.com This will be a great and wild and memorable event. It's being held at Capitale, which in of itself is worth checking out. It's one of the more beautiful interior spaces in New York -- an old, cathedral-like bank, now used as an elegant nightclub. Kathleen Turner will be making a presentation and Debby Harry will be performing. Please come!!!

Thursday, May 26th -- I will be reading at Pete's Candy Store. For info go to: http://www.petescandystore.com/reading/

Tuesday, May 31st -- I will be joining the band One Ring Zero at Joe's Pub. For information go to: www.oneringzero.com

The anthology I edited, Sexual Metamorphosis: An Anthology of Transsexual Memoirs, is in the stores. Here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1400030145/qid=1115417647/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/102-9403297-8740940?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

My novel Wake Up, Sir! will be out in paperback in mid-June and I'll be doing some readings from that in New York (July 29th at the Astor Place Barnes and Noble) and in San Francisco (Booksmith on Haight on July 19th).

The TV pilot I wrote and acted in for Showtime, based on my book What's Not to Love?, will air sometime in 2005 or 2006. When I know the exact date and time and I will post the information.

I will have a new book of essays coming out in January of 2006 from Grove Press, and the title for that is: I Love You More Than You Know.

To see pictures of the wild closing celebration/performance at the Fez, which I hosted in March, go to www.tankboy.com/fez. Once there you will see the recreation of Matisse's "La Danse," which was perpetrated by the three dancing "Manginas."

Well, thank you for coming to my website.
